Large long term goals are essential for success in whatever you do. Unfortunately it is far to easy to sometimes lose sense of direction and pace in reaching those long term goals. That is why you must take it one day at a time.

The Powerlist gives structure to the critical daily tasks needed to reach any goal and move you forward. Part of the process is replacing old habits with beneficial ones and that requires consistency and winning each day.

After you define your long term goals you should figure out what daily steps will eventually bring you to that goal. Your total daily steps are limited to five. If you want to put more than five daily tasks on your Powerlist that means you are not challenging yourself enough with the five tasks. Once you find a task is a solid habit and you no longer need the list to complete that task you should take that task off the list. When you have an opening on the list replace it with another critical and beneficial task. Some of these tasks may vary day to day, what matters is that they contribute to your long term goals. These daily tasks are not goals! These are critical tasks that will eventually allow to you to achieve the goal. Once you finish all five of your daily tasks the rest of the day is yours to enjoy.

For example if you wanted to lose weight you might put as one of your tasks a hour of cardio each day. Once you are naturally doing a hour of cardio each day it is time to retire that task from the list.

If you give real effort in winning each day you will make severe progress on reaching your goals and seeing real change.
